Latest letter from Mr Farley
At last! As you will be aware schools are reopening fully on Monday 8th March. We are excited to welcome ALL children in ALL year groups on this day. Please follow the plan from last term for start / finish times and gates. Ensure that you are prompt to avoid any cross over of groups on the playground and please remember social distancing and face masks still apply as before.
W band 8:45am - 3pm
P band 9am - 3:15pm
We appreciate that children may have grown out of some of their uniform and that it is difficult to replace this with the current situation. We will temporarily relax our uniform rules for the next half term where needed. However, we do ask that children wear school uniform or you try to get as close to uniform as you can if you are struggling i.e. match school uniform colours or black trousers instead of grey.
Miss Fleet is trying to sort Leavers’ hoodies for Y6 which they will be able to wear instead of a school jumper.
The local school uniform shops are running an online shopping service and can be contacted by phone
We will continue to keep our bubble system around school as well as rigorous hygiene and cleaning plans from last term in order to try to prevent any further class closures.
Staff are now taking COVID tests twice a week as a precaution and are wearing masks in all communal areas.
As school re-opens there is an expectation that all children will return to school unless they have received a shielding letter from the NHS. If you have received one yourself and are concerned about your child returning to school or have any general concerns about your child returning to school please call the school office or speak to a member of the Senior Leadership Team to see how we can best support your family.
CHROMEBOOKS / WORKBOOKS
If you have borrowed any resources from school (chromebook, pencil cases etc) please ensure that these are returned when your child returns. If you have any workbooks that your child has been doing over the course of lockdown then please bring these back in so that we can celebrate the work that they have been doing.
Please rest assured, as always with Westminster primary, we will be focusing on the children’s well being and ensuring that their social and emotional needs are met alongside their educational needs. As always, we are here to support you and the children, if you have any concerns or questions, please ask SLT or the class team. We look forward to welcoming all the children back safely in this first step of the return to normal.
IF YOUR CHILD IS IN SCHOOL:
If you, your child or another member of your household is showing any symptoms of COVID19 please follow government guidelines, self isolate and call 119 or visit www.gov.uk/coronavirus and book a COVID19 test.
If self isolating please contact school to arrange work to be sent home (physically or remotely).
If your child is unwell with other illness please follow the usual protocols of keeping your child off for 48 hours after the last symptom
Potential closure of bubbles / school
We are working hard with our hygiene protocols to try to prevent any positive cases of COVID19 arising in school and ask all of our families to keep to government guidelines outside of school to help to keep the virus at bay. Year groups are working, eating and playing in 'bubbles' to help prevent them from coming into contact with too many people and to allow us to limited the number of people that potentially have to self isolate should we have a positive case.
Should a member of the school community test positive we will contact the Public Health Department for advice. This could result in a small group, class, year group or wider group of children being asked to self isolate. It is important that if asked this should be followed strictly (under current advice the rest of the family does not need to isolate unless someone in your household tests positive).
