Curriculum
In Year 2 your child’s learning is based on the National curriculum for all subject areas. This ensures that every child receives a wide and varied curriculum allowing them to experience a breadth of topics that are linked together to provide cross curricular activities where possible. We will continue to make the curriculum interesting, challenging and relevant to their lives and future needs. We aim to provide experiences that broaden their horizons, expand their interest and engage their imagination so they are inspired to believe that they can achieve their full potential.
We also spend time in Year 2 working collaboratively, building teamwork and leadership skills. We focus on building resilience and resourcefulness, getting the children to think and act for themselves. We discuss a wide range of areas in PSHE allowing children to have a voice and discuss their feelings and concerns.
If you want to know more about the topics your child will be covering in Year 2 the curriculum overview is available on this website along with a more detailed subject overview - just click on the curriculum link.
We love visitors in Year 2!
“Sergeant” Powell has been into year 2 to talk about what life was like for a WW1 soldier.
The children looked at real artefacts from WW1 and Mrs Powell was dressed up as a soldier. The children practiced some army drills too!
